Nice article Laura, I have had similiar occurences. An organic insect spray like Ludwig's Insect Spray (+-R75/100ml) is useful to keep away the aphids and the fly on your tomato plants. The garlic in the spray repels all insects, the canola oil suffocates those that are directly hit, like aphids, and the pyrethroids are stomach poisons extracted from chrysanthemums. I also like to make my own tea sprays and the one you made from soap, it's just that somexs it's easier to use a ready-made insecticide! Come visit my garden in Parkhurst!

I just recently finished writing a lens on plastic bags and the environment, it was while researching for that article that I first heard about the "Northern Pacific Garbage Patch." Before that I had never heard of it! Thanks for getting the word out there!

I am so pleased to hear we too will have an electric car available soon.
How could we assure that we stay in the loop as to how much it cost and the exact date it will become available to buy, as I would really like to be on a waiting list if there is one.
My husband and I are looking at buying a town run around right now and I am trying to stall him in order to rather buy the electric car.
Not sure how much longer I can stall him though!

Do you not need people to test drive these for a while, I will be more than happy to be part of this pocess?

Genetically modified food isn't the answer. The root of the problem must be addressed, and the problem is world-wide. All countries are suffering. In May 2009, the Paraguan government declared a state of emergency after a severe drought left approximately 185,000 people without the basic necessities for life. Paraguay has partnered with IEDRO, the nonprofit International Environmental Data Rescue Organization, to rescue historic weather records from 31 Paraguan observation sites. The inventory represents tens of thousands of crucial observations researchers can study to help prevent and prepare for these kinds of environmental catastrophes, as well as contribute to sustainability studies for the country, from crop planning applications to calculations for potential water collection.

John Hardie November 30th, 2009 4:00 pm
I am a plumber in the Overberg area and agree with the idea of preheating the water before it enters the cylinder. This can be done very simply and cheaply. Buy 300m of 22 mm black class 6 plastic pipe. Connect this between your geyser and supply. Lay the coils evenly on a piece of roof that gets sun most of the day. It works and will cost you little, and save you a bomb!

desA:
That is incredibly smart advice, John. Bravo!

Yes, a coiled black pipe can generate free heat energy very easily. Excellent.
